One of my favorite ways to detox and get energized is Dry Skin Brushing. It is simple, easy and very invigorating!

Dry Skin brushing is done by brushing the entire body with a body brush. This process stimulates the Lymphatic system which is our garbage disposal system. The lymphatic system picks up toxins and waste throughout the body and disposes them, thereby cleansing the body of waste and rejuvenating the system.

As you brush, the skin which is the body’s largest organ starts to shed white powder like substance and unclogs the pores, this shedding removes waste and starts the detoxification process.

Dry Skin brushing also boosts the immune system, reduces cellulite, stimulates the sebaceous glands and leaves the skin feeling smooth and shiny.

Here is the process for Dry Skin Brushing

  1. Purchase a high quality Dry skin brush from a Health store. Choose one that has a medium- long handle so you can reach all parts of the body easily. Make sure the bristles are stiff.
  2. Best time to do this is right before a shower, whilst standing in the shower.
  3. Stand naked in the shower and begin to brush your skin several times in a circular motion starting with the feet following in the direction of the heart. Continue doing this on the entire body, front and back. Brush lightly where the skin is thin and increase the pressure where the skin is thick.
  4. For the face you can use a softer and separate brush.
  5. Once you have brushed the entire body take a lukewarm shower with soap.
  6. After drying yourself apply coconut oil (or any natural oil) on the entire body.
  7. The brush can be washed once a week in soap and water and left to dry naturally.

Try this for a week if you love the energy boost and the extra cleanse make it part of your everyday routine!
