Chocolate Energy Bites

A nutrient dense chocolate treat.

Quick to make, and easy to customize, your new favourite, decadent date balls are packed with nutritious ingredients that allow you to have a treat and keep your energy up all day. No sugar crashes with this one!!
Ingredients
  • 1 cup instant oats
  • 1 1/2 cup pitted dates
  • 1/4 cup shredded coconut
  • 1/4 cup Chia seed
  • 1/4 cup Raw cacoa powder (or unsweetened cocao powder)
  • 1/4 cup Melted coconut oil
  • 1/2 tsp Vanilla extract (optional)
  • 1/4 cup Chocolate chips

Optional Toppings: Cocoa powder, shredded coconut or crushed almonds or pistachios.

Step by Step Instructions

Step 1

Put all the ingredients (except the chocolate chips) in a food processor and pulse until well blended.

Step 2

Remove the mixture from the processor and place in a mixing bowl.  Add the chocolate chips and mix together.

Step 3

Scoop out 1 heaped teaspoon at a time and roll into balls. If the balls are sticky put some oil on your hands first.

Step 4

The energy bites can be consumed as is, or they can be rolled into one of the optional toppings.
Store in an airtight container.
